Central Otago Tourism Award 2007

The Central Otago District Council is pleased to announce that The Lodge & Cottages Wedderburn is a finalist of the Central Otago District Tourism awards.

The Tourism Award is designed for our tourism operators to think about their business strategies and their points of excellence. The judging panel took the following aspects into consideration:

• Their entrepreneurial spirit, vision and innovation
• Whether they apply best practice and achieve all round business excellence
• Demonstrating high service standards

A passion for people, enthusiasm, vitality and friendliness are the hallmarks of this comfortable quality self-contained accommodation on the Otago Central Rail Trail.

The judging panel were impressed in the way it identified and targeted new markets, worked with other local operations to develop special packages and found a specific niche market with the more demanding older age group. Its innovative approach, whilst incorporating farming values and a passion for the area, has seen the Lodge and Cottages diversify from their core focus and add value with its new "Red Barn" facility.

With a firm belief in the importance of customer satisfaction and determination to maintain a high standard it is not surprising this operation has been recognised nationally.
